What are Affordable Educational Resources (AER)

Affordable educational resources are instructional materials that students can purchase for less than $40. This includes low-cost or no-cost options, such as open educational resources (OER), as well as library materials that do not have an open license.

  • Affordability is defined from the student's perspective, not the institution's or parents'
  • Affordable resources are priced under $40 for students to purchase
  • Affordable resources can include OER as well as other low-cost or free materials accessed through the library
