Local and Neighboring Tribes

Anishinaabe, Ojibwe, and Chippewa Definitions

Anishinaabe are a group of culturally-related Indigenous peoples. They include the Ojibwe people. In short, Ojibwe people are Anishinaabe, but not all Anishinaabe are Ojibwe. "Chippewa" is another name used for the Ojibwe people, the two words coming from different pronunciations of the name, but referring to the same people.
