Layout and Design

What:

  • The arrangement of text, images, and other elements within content.

Why:

  • A clean and organized layout makes content easier to find, read, and understand.

Best Practices:

  • Use the built-in heading styles provided by your document editor (Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.).
  • Ensure heading follow a sequential order without skipping levels (Heading 1 followed by Heading 2, then Heading 3).
  • Standardize fonts and text styles throughout the document.
  • Provide consistent spacing between sections and elements.
  • Simplify layouts to prioritize essential information and reduce cognitive load.

Examples that follow best practices are on the left under a Good heading, showing proper hierarchical structure of headings and proper layout of bullet points. The right side has a Bad heading, highlighting the importance of maintaining a logical and consistent heading structure and bullet point layout by showing what not to do.
