Grading Schemas

Accessing Your Grading Schemas

  1. Select Gradebook at the top of a Course page.
  1. Enter "Gradebook Settings" by clicking on the Gear icon.

The Gear icon ("Gradebook Settings") is on the right side of the Grade Views Tabs navigation bar in the course Gradebook.

  1. Click on "Manage Grade Schemas" within the "Grade Schemas" section.

"Manage Grade Schemas" link is in the "Grade Schemas" section of the "Gradebook Settings".

Adding a Grading Schema

  1. Click on the + Add button.

The "+ Add" button is to the right of the "Grade Schemas" title.

  1. Enter the name of the name of the new schema and press the Add button.

Enter the name of the new schema and click the add button.

  1. Edit the "Grade Name" and "Grade Range %" for the first entry by clicking on the three dots and then the Edit button. The first one in this example will be changed to "Exemplary".

Click on the ellipsis for the "Grade Name" you wish to edit, click on the Edit button, then change the "Grade Name" and grade range.

  1. If desired, add more "Grade Names" by hovering over the line between two grades, selecting the +, then "Add Grade below ...".

A "+" appears when hovering between two "Grade Names" that when clicked displays a button "Add Grade below ..."

  1. Continue adding "Grade Names" until the schema looks the way you want, then press the Save button. 

Press the Save button when the schema is done.

Using a Grading Schema

  1. Open the assessment.
  2. Find the Grade section under "Assignment Settings" and click on the first link. In this example it is currently using the Points schema.

The current "Grading schema" can be changed by clicking on the first link in the Grading section of the "Assignment Settings".

  1. Open the selection window for "Grade using", select the schema to be used and press Save.

A "Grade using" dropdown menu appears with available options.
