Add or Edit Exceptions

Accommodation vs. Exception

Accommodation

  • Course-wide and applies to due dates and time limits for all assessments in your course for a specific student

Exception

  • Applies to a specific assessment for a specific student, where you can provide additional attempts, reschedule due dates or extend access to an assignment

Accessing Add and Edit Exceptions

From an assessment's Submission page

  1. Click on the three dots.
  2. On the popup, click on the "Add or edit exceptions".

From the Grades view in the gradebook

  1. Click on one of the grade fields.
  2. On the popup, click on the "Add or edit exceptions".

From the Students view in the gradebook

  1. Click on the three dots.
  2. On the popup, click on the "Add or edit exceptions".

Displays where to access exceptions from the Students view of the gradebook.

Add and Edit Exceptions

  • Set new assessment due date
  • Conditionally show or hide assessment
  • Allow more attempts

Displays the settings available for Exceptions.

Exception Indicator

  • A clock appears next to the student's name.

A clock next to a student's name indicates there is an exception for that student on the assignment.

Remove Exceptions

  • Return to "Add or edit exceptions".
  • Click on "Reset settings".

Shows the link to click in order to reset exceptions for a student.
