Question Banks

About Question Bank

When you create a database of questions, one can reuse questions in multiple assessments.  When you select bank questions for an assessment, copies of the questions are created and added to the assessment. Visit Reuse Questions to learn more about reusing questions in assessments.

You can import question banks or files from outside resources into your course: such as publisher test banks and original courses.

Export Question Banks

Export your question bank file from the publisher's website using the Blackboard 7.1+ file format.  It is important to identify that you are exporting a Test Bank file from the publisher's website and not a test you created on the publisher's website from their test bank.  Questions exported in a QTI file format are not supported in the Ultra Course View, only in the Original Course View.

One can export/import tests created on a publisher's website by following the separate directions for Importing Publisher Tests or Importing Exam View Tests.

Import Question Banks

On the Course Content page, select Manage Banks under the Question Banks heading.

On the Question Banks page, select the plus icon and select Import from file.

Receive a success message when the file imports successfully and a message if the file or some question types weren't uploaded.

The most recently imported bank appears first in the list.  An exclamation icon appears with banks where one or more unsupported questions were removed.

Delete Question Banks

When you delete a question bank on the Question Banks page, the bank is permanently removed from your course.  If you copied questions from the bank into one or more assessments, those questions remain in your assessments after you delete the bank.  However, you can't delete question banks used in question pools.  See separate instructions regarding Question Pools.
