Blackboard Ultra: Faculty Resource

Export-Import Course

You can export your course content to another instructor.  If you want to copy the content to your courses, use the Course Copy option (separate instructions).

 Export Course

1.  On the Course Content page, open the menu on the right side above the content list.

2.  Select Export Course Package.

3.  Select No to include the student enrollment data.

4.  When the export package is ready, the ZIP file appears.  Click on the file name to download the package to your computer.

5.  Export packages are downloaded as compressed ZIP files.  Do not unzip a package or delete the file from the package, as then the contents can not be imported correctly.  Find the zipped file in your downloads.

Share Downloaded Course File with another Instructor

Choose one of the options below to share the zipped file.  One cannot email zipped files as an attachment per the college's outlook restrictions.

  • Option 1: Copy the ZIP file from your downloads folders and paste it via a Teams' chat
  • Option 2: Copy the downloaded file to your OneDrive folder and share the OneDrive link

All content is hidden from students so that the receiving instructor can set the visibility.

Import Content

You can import a course package from another instructor.  You can import compressed files only.  Supported file types are ZIP and IMSCC.  Receive the zipped file from another instructor and download the file to your computer.  If you will use this zip file again, you may want to save a copy to your OneDrive.

The import does not include student enrollments or data, such as discussion activity and grades.

1.  Click on the number of items that weren't imported link at the bottom of the screen to review a list of content flagged by the system.
