Panopto: Full Guide: Tour

Panopto

Tour of Panopto Library

Your personal library will hold your videos securely and let you directly share videos with others as you choose.  By default, all videos in your library are only visible to you.

Top Navigation Bar

Search Bar: Type any keywords to help you search/filter through everything you have access to within Panopto.  It will search through all words spoken in the sessions, shown on the screen, and shown in the slides.  The search bar will search through a folder if you are within a folder.

Main Navigation Bar

After logging in to Panopto from your MyCampus dashboard, you will see the Home tab.  This shows the latest videos that have been shared with you or created by you.

On the left-hand side, you will notice 6 tabs:

  • Home: Landing page, a quick snapshot of your current video library
  • My Folder:  The location where all your videos are saved
  • Subscriptions:  We are not currently using this feature
  • Shared with Me: This shows ALL the videos that are created by others and shared with you for viewing
  • Everything:  This will show a list of ALL videos you have access to, both videos you have created and that are shared with you
  • Browse: A file explore type view of your video folder

The two most used tabs will be My Folder and Browse. Before we take a look at those, we need to talk about how Panopto stores your videos.  Panopto works on a folder setup.  Think of My Folder as your top folder, and you can create folders within that folder to organize your videos.

My Folder

My Folder will let you view your main folder and click into each individual folder.  The folders you have created will be shown at the top with your videos below.  Click on a folder to open and view the videos within that folder or click on the Add folder button to create a new folder.

Browse

Browse will open a hierarchy view of your folders.  This is an easy way to see all the folders simultaneously, even within folders.

Your folder list will open next to the navigation tabs.  Use the arrows next to a folder name to expand the folder.  When you click on a folder name, the right-hand side of the screen will update and show the videos in that folder.  You can use the Pin button at the top to open the Browse view
