Blackboard Ultra Orientation

Class Collaborate

Class Collaborate is a web conferencing software built directly into Blackboard.  You can use this software to meet online with your instructor, meet online with other students, or attend online class activities.  Your instructor will have links and directions on joining any required class activities, which will vary from class to class.

Join a Class Collaborate Web Conference Session

From the course menu on the left side of the screen, find Class Collaborate, click the Join Session link, and click on the session you want to join.  All courses will have a default Course Room session.  If there are more available sessions, they are listed under the Course Room

How do I Find Class Recordings?

You can view class recordings in courses you are enrolled in if the instructor recorded them.  There are two options to find class recordings.

Option 1: Once in a Class Collaborate session, open the session menu and select Recordings.

Tips and Troubleshooting

  • Use a headset with an attached microphone.  A headset is ideal for cutting down on feedback and background noises.
  • Are you using a Chrome browser?
  • Joining a session early will allow you to know your way around and troubleshoot audio or video problems.
  • Muting your microphone will reduce audio feedback and distracting background noises when you aren't speaking.
  • Keep other applications you are running to a minimum.
