Navigate Inside a Course

Navigation Bar

Open frequently used pages in one step: Content, Calendar, Announcements, Discussions, Gradebook, Messages and Groups.

Course Navigation bar

A number in a circle next to a navigation tab, indicates there are unviewed items.

Details & Actions

  • Roster: Access basic profile cards for your classmates.
  • Progress Tracking: If turned on by your instructor, you can check your progress relating to your course content, assignments, and tests.
  • Attendance: If your instructor uses the attendance feature, you can access your records.
  • Books & Tools: Access the tools available in your course and your institution.

Course Content

  • Select an item, such as an assignment, document, or link, to access that content.
  • Select the Exit button to navigate back to a previous spot in your course.
  • Select a folder or learning module to access the content nested inside it.
  • Progress tracking keeps track of what content you've completed and what you still need to complete.
  • Use the Search course content button, which appears as a magnifying glass, to search for items by title.

New Activity

A new activity indicator, which appears as a speech bubble, appears when new activity occurs in a course conversation for assignments, tests, documents, and discussions.
